Stickin' It To The Man Tax Day Champagne Tasting! Today, April 15th, 2014, 4:00-6:30 pm. The $10 tasting fee is waived with any Moutard purchase. Here's the lineup!
Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée, NV - $35.00
It is the Champagne the Moutard House opens with no second thoughts and for any occasion or surprise! It is a cépage of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from various vintages and bottled on the lees for 3 years before disgorgment. Seriously delicious brioche, nuts and red berries all seamlessly balanced!
Rosé Cuvaison, Brut, NV - $40.00
Robert Parker, who gives this wine 92 points, says, "The house’s NV Brut Rosé de Cuvaison is another standout. Tar, smoke and game are some of the aromas and flavors that emerge from the glass, adding considerable complexity and nuance. A short maceration on the skinks gives this 100% Pinot Noir Champagne its volume and breadth. Richness and sophistication meld together beautifully here. This is a standout from Moutard.”
Vieilles Vignes, Millésime 2006, Arbane - $105.00 pre-order $95.00
There are but 2 hectares of Arbane planted in Champagne and Moutard is the only house that makes a wine from 100%. Delightfully dry with a brazing acidity, soft yeast attributes and long-lasting white peach flavors. Grape Expectations has offered a discount for this tasting and a pre-order on this wine is $95.00. Order 6 or more and I’ll throw in a 15% discount! Boom!
Cuvée 6 Cépages, Millésime 2004 - $83.00
Another true and rare treat that captures the essence of all six varietals of Champagne. This is an equal blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Petite Meslier , Pinot Blanc and Arbane and as a mish-mash of a wine you will note a well-defined mineral component with a bright lemony and pastry shell profile that comes across a bit like savory custard.
